Recent shock over Rudy Giuliani’s comments as President Trump’s lawyer fails to take into account the former New York mayor’s past, argues  “Last Week Tonight” host John Oliver.

The comedian reviews Giuliani’s career as a public figure, from his “tough on crime” stance that led to increased police brutality in New York to his law firm’s defense of unethical companies such as those involved in private prisons, tobacco, the opioid epidemic and the 2008 financial crisis.

In other words, dismay over the Republican’s inconsistent, awkward rambles on air this past week isn’t warranted when you stop to think about Giulani’s record for even a minute, or the 15 minutes Oliver’s monologue lasts.
