Radical public intellectual and outspoken activist Cornel West discussed his new book, “Black Prophetic Fire,” for over an hour with black liberation theologian James H. Cone in Princeton, N.J., in November. Truthdig columnist Chris Hedges introduced the speakers.

West wrote the book with Christa Buschendorf, a professor and chair of American Studies at Goethe-Universität Frankfurt am Main in Germany. Its publisher, Beacon Press, describes the volume as “an unflinching look at nineteenth- and twentieth-century African American leaders and their visionary legacies.”

The conversation was filmed by Leigha Cohen. View other interviews and lectures she’s filmed at her YouTube channel here and her home page here.
