CNN’s John King just reported that Ken Mehlman will be leaving as chair of the Republican National Committee (i.e., head of the Republican Party) by the end of the year. Apparently Kenny’s just tuckered out. According to King, “He’s been on the gerbil wheel, as one of his close friends put it, for well in excess of six years now, and he’s tired.”

RNC Chairman Ken Mehlman has released a video titled "From NDR to Ned Lamont: The Democratic Party's Transformation From Strength to Weakness" Its message is obvious Its logic is ludicrous -- ie that only blind adherence to Bush's failed policies will make America safe (More after the jump)

The chairman of the Republican National Committee did a surprisingly good job ducking and parrying the jabs that the "Daily Show" host launched at him over the Bush administration's record of lies and deceit. (Stewart got in a few zingers, but Mehlman is as good as they come.)
