We also hear about Democratic Rep. John P. Murtha’s claims that the U.S. troop surge in Iraq might be working, as well as about Barbra Streisand’s pronouncement that she backs Hillary Clinton’s presidential campaign. Preppy Anchor, meanwhile, makes sure to tell us that he’s wholly unfamiliar with the majority of Streisand’s musical oeuvre — now, why would he take the trouble to air that little personal factoid? Hmmm.

Playing on fears and stoking divisiveness is the president's go-to strategy, even as tensions build on a national and international level as a result of his rhetoric and direction.
The Republicans and Democrats are two faces of the same failure. And there will be no real hope of rescue by third parties until the American system of electoral politics is rebuilt from the ground up.
