In this installment of Sonali Kolhatkar’s video series for Truthdig and Free Speech TV from the Democratic National Convention, she sits down with journalist Arun Gupta to consider what’s different about this Democratic presidential nomination summit and to question the direction that some among the political left are taking — or not taking, rather.

“When the ideas get out there, people on the left think that that’s enough,” Gupta tells Kolhatkar at Philadelphia’s Wells Fargo Center. Another of the left’s big problems, according to Gupta, is that there’s “no organizational capacity … there’s no base anymore.”
