Breaking the Royal Code of Conduct

A royal chauffeur was suspended by Buckingham Palace on Monday after he allegedly allowed access to the queen's fleet of official cars to tabloid reporters of the News World Press. It was the latest in a series of royal security breaches that famously include the intrusion of a man dressed as Osama bin Laden at Prince William's birthday party and, creepier, in 1982 when a man broke into the queen’s room to watch her sleep.

Sir Salman’s Knighthood Triggers Backlash

Author Salman Rushdie is once again the subject of controversy -- a position the "Satanic Verses" scribe is familiar with, to say the least. The decision by Britain's Queen Elizabeth II to knight Rushdie last weekend drew criticism from Muslims who disagreed with the message of his most notorious novel, including members of Pakistan's parliament.

President Bush managed to commit one of the biggest possible no-nos, taken straight out of the Book of Things Never to Say to Women, when lauding Britain's visiting Queen Elizabeth II (she's the one wearing the hat) at the White House on Monday: He insinuated that the queen is older than her actual age.
