Jerry Falwell's death, it looks like author and provocateur Christopher Hitchens (pictured) will have to wait a while to be invited back into President Bush's inner circle. Hitchens channeled his disdain for religion and for Falwell into one scathing send-off on Cooper's show.

The Rev. Jerry Falwell -- televangelist, Moral Majority founder and head of Liberty University -- was found unresponsive in his office on campus Tuesday morning and pronounced dead shortly thereafter of heart failure.

The Rev. Jerry Falwell held a hush-hush summit earlier this month with other conservative Republicans from the Council for National Policy to discuss the 2008 presidential race. The exclusive group is facing a status downgrade when the Bush years end and can't find anyone in the lineup of candidates who clearly fits the council's bill.
