When President Obama told Democratic lawmakers not to believe everything they read in The Huffington Post, he might have been referring to this column by Truthdig Editor-in-Chief Robert Scheer. Or this one.
The president was reportedly defending the man he wants to head the Federal Reserve, his former top economic adviser Lawrence Summers. According to The Hill, “The Huffington Post has published a series of blistering columns this month attacking Summers as a corporate shill for his close ties to Wall Street.”
That includes a column by Scheer called “Gag Me With Lawrence Summers,” which appeared on The Huffington Post the day before Obama’s comments. Two weeks ago, Scheer wrote another column critical of Summers called “The Return of Lawrence Summers, Mr. Spectacular Failure.”
Summers is no stranger to readers of Scheer’s column, which is syndicated nationally by Creators and appears every Tuesday on Truthdig, The Huffington Post and The Nation.
