Chronic sexual violence in India has become a national crisis in the wake of the brutal gang rape and murder of a young woman on a Delhi bus in December 2012.

This video shows the personal accounts of rape victims, highlighting the work of the Red Brigade, an advocacy group that is demanding better policing and public awareness of sexual violence against women in India.

As Al-Jazeera Plus explains, “Women’s rights advocates in India and groups such as the Red Brigade are protesting to demand legal action and an end to impunity for those who commit sexual assault. Red Brigade has launched a petition to increase the number of female police officers on the streets, install surveillance cameras and raise awareness among the public about the epidemic of sexual violence in India.”
