Ron and Rand Crusade, Darker View for Pa. Voters, and More

A Closed Door for Many Pennsylvania Voters:

More than 758,000 Pennsylvanians may not be able to vote in the coming presidential election because of a new law requiring voters to have a photo identification card. A new estimate equates to roughly 9.2 percent of the state’s 8.2 million voters, higher than previously thought. The law was pushed through by Republicans, and they expect it to help Mitt Romney win the state in November. Said House Republican leader Mike Turzai: “Voter ID — which is going to allow Gov. Romney to win the state of Pennsylvania — done.” (Read more)

Romney’s Record-Breaking Haul: Last month was a pretty darn good one for Mitt Rommey’s campaign, at least as far as fundraising goes. The presumed GOP presidential nominee raked in more than $100 million. According to a Republican official, that is the most money ever raised in one month by any GOP campaign. (Read more)

Veep Watch—Romney Considers a Woman: Mitt Romney has “been looking at” the possibility of choosing a female running mate, according to his wife, Ann. “I’d love that option as well,” she told CBS News. Here’s guessing that former vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin is not among the women on Romney’s VP short list. (Read more)

The Pauls’ Crusade for Internet Freedom: The father-son duo of Rep. Ron Paul, R-Texas, and Sen. Rand Paul, R-Ky., have joined forces in support of a new cause: defending Internet freedom. The Paul-founded Campaign for Liberty on Thursday released a new manifesto, “The Technology Revolution,” aimed at keeping government from regulating the Internet. Think of the campaign as Rand’s version of end-the-Fed, Paul insiders say. (Read more)

Lawmaker Cancels Etiquette Class: New York state Sen. Marty Golden has called off the “business etiquette” class that would have taught his female constituents “posture, deportment and the feminine presence.” Which is almost a shame, really, because who better to teach women the art of femininity than a male lawmaker from Brooklyn? Among the useful skills women would have learned: how to “sit, stand and walk like a model.” Because walking like a model is something every businesswoman should know how to do, right? The state senator’s office declined to say why the event was canceled, but perhaps it had something to do with a public outcry that it was an insult to women. (Read more)
