On Tuesday, Oscar-winning filmmaker Michael Moore, an outspoken critic of Donald Trump, unveiled a surprise documentary about the 2016 election and the rise of the Republican nominee.
The film, “Michael Moore in Trumpland,” is a cinematic rendering of Moore’s one-man play, which the filmmaker originally planned to perform at Newark’s Midland Theatre in Ohio. According to Moore, the theater banned him from presenting the show over fears the subject matter was too controversial, a charge the theater subsequently denied.
“See the film Ohio Republicans tried to shut down,” the website for Trumpland reads. “Oscar-winner Michael Moore dives right into hostile territory with his daring and hilarious one-man show, deep in the heart of TrumpLand in the weeks before the 2016 election.”
The announcement comes after Moore posted a series of cryptic tweets Monday hinting about a Trump-centric production in the works.
