Jon Stewart: America Has Reached ‘Breakthrough’ in the Way That We Deal With Mass Shootings
Why don't we just accept the senseless killings that most developed countries don't experience as an inevitable fact of American life and stop trying to fix them?Past denial and anger, we are now in the “acceptance” stage of grief when it comes to the senseless killings that occur in the U.S. far too often. As in, let’s accept this terrible thing that most developed countries don’t experience as an inevitable fact of American life and stop trying to fix it.
At least, that’s what the conservative media, such as Fox News, wants. And why even bother with the pesky task of reporting news such as the recent Isla Vista shootings? Instead, Stewart explains, you can use this (laugh-out-loud funny) kit of generic clips courtesy of “The Daily Show” that does everything the media do now anyway: Deny the incident has anything to do with guns, blame the media or “dubstep” or something, and then move on to more important news such as, you know, Justin Bieber and animals doing cute things.
