In his first interview with Western media, Iran’s newly elected president said he speaks “with full power” and “complete authority” when he says “under no circumstances would we seek any weapons of mass destruction, including nuclear weapons, nor will we ever.”

President Hasan Rowhani told NBC News that he viewed a letter from President Obama as “positive and constructive.”

Asked whether Obama’s turn to diplomacy in Syria made the American president seem weak, Rowhani said, “We consider war a weakness. Any government or administration that decides to wage a war, we consider a weakness. And any government that decides on peace, we look on it with respect to peace.”
