Although John Boehner has spent much of his speakership opposing President Obama’s agenda, there’s one thing they agree on. As the speaker of the House said Tuesday after meeting with Obama: “The use of [chemical] weapons has to be responded to, and only the United States has the capability and the capacity to stop [Syrian President Bashar] Assad and to warn others around the world that this type of behavior is not going to be tolerated.”

Boehner said he expected Congress would support military action, but polls show widespread opposition across party lines to Syrian involvement.
