Despite what some global warming naysayers might still insist, it’s not looking like planet Earth is going to be a super-comfy place to reside indefinitely. Now, superphysicist Stephen Hawking has suggested an alternative: space!

Hawking apparently recommends a multiphase program to launch our greedy species spaceward. Some of us, he says, might be able to hang out here a little while longer, barring any major nuclear or accelerated ecological cataclysms. According to Hawking, “if we can avoid disaster for the next two centuries, our species should be safe as we spread into space.” –KA
