Breast-Feeding Proposal Under Attack by Tea Party

In an effort to combat skyrocketing obesity rates and increase the general health of children in the U.S., Michelle Obama launched a campaign to encourage breast-feeding among American mothers. Who has a problem with that? Tea party hostesses Sarah Palin and Michele Bachmann.

The puzzling attack against Obama came after she expressed support for a tax break proposal for women who bought breast pumps. Last time we checked, the tea party didn’t like taxes so what gives? –JCL

Michelle Obama’s campaign to encourage breastfeeding among American mothers has become the unlikely focus of an attack by two prominent rightwing politicians.

Tea Party favourites Sarah Palin and Michele Bachmann have used Obama’s breastfeeding drive as a stick with which to beat her.

Bachmann began the onslaught by ridiculing the first lady’s support for this week’s decision to award tax breaks to mothers for the cost of breast pumps.
