A suicide bomber set off a deadly explosion near a mosque in a popular marketplace in Zaranj, Afghanistan, Thursday evening as men were gathering for prayer, killing 20 people and injuring about 30.


BBC:

A district police chief and a border reserve police commander were among the dead, said Ghulam Dastgir Azad, governor of Nimroz province.

The device went off outside a mosque in a popular market and there may have been two bombers, he added.

At least 12 militants were killed elsewhere, Afghan officials say.
