It may be a few years too late, but Sen. John Kerry is going after the Swift Boat Veterans for Truth, which launched a multimedia assault to besmirch his Vietnam War record before the 2004 presidential election. Kerry has taken SBVT sympathizer T. Boone Pickens’ offer to pay $1 million to anyone who could disprove the group’s claims, and, as this letter posted on the John Kerry for U.S. Senate Web site shows, Kerry is not about to let Pickens change the terms of the bet.

As I’ve said to you before, I am prepared to prove the lie and marshal all the evidence, the question is whether you are prepared to fulfill your obligation — no variations, no back pedaling, no retreat, no new bets, no changing the subject.
