After a brief interruption over the weekend in Donald Trump’s regular brand of campaign-trail programming, in which he issued an approximation of an apology for his now-notorious 2005 “grab them by the pussy” dialogue with Billy Bush during an “Access Hollywood” hot-mic moment, the GOP presidential nominee and his allies reverted to their “locker-room talk” excuse at rallies and in media appearances.

No matter how often they repeat that refrain, however, there are still vocal critics ready to call them out. Trevor Noah, for instance, piped up on Monday night’s episode of “The Daily Show” to pull the needle off the record that Trump and his sympathizers have been spinning so vigorously.

Noah begged to differ with Trump’s characterization of the comments that threatened to sink the candidate’s chances at the presidency, insisting that there are some very important distinctions between Trump’s strain of “locker-room talk” and more seemingly benign forms of “sex talk.” Noah helpfully introduced a comparison exercise to further underscore his point.
