Stevens Will Hang Up His Robe

Liberal Justice John Paul Stevens has announced his retirement from the U.S. Supreme Court. The 89-year-old will step down when the court's term ends in June or July, giving President Barack Obama the opportunity to make his second appointment to the high court.

Another Nominee Bites the Dust

Apparently nobody wants to be President Obama's commerce secretary. The second candidate for the post, Sen. Judd Gregg, has dropped out. The Republican senator cited "irresolvable conflicts," including the stimulus package and the census. That's what you get for trying to make nice with those fussy Republicans.
