A Maryland court has ordered leaders of Kansas' fundamentalist Westboro Baptist Church to pay almost $11 million in damages to Albert Snyder, the father of Lance Cpl. Outgoing Joint Chiefs of Staff Chairman Gen. Peter Pace says he did not resign voluntarily, but "I've been told I'm done." Defense Secretary Robert Gates openly admitted that he would not seek another term for Pace in order to avoid a difficult confirmation. Gen. Peter Pace took his boot out of his mouth long enough to refuse to apologize for, and instead to reiterate, his anti-gay statements in today's Chicago Tribune. While Pace allowed that he should have just signaled his support for the government's "don't ask, don't tell" policy instead of focusing on his "personal moral views," he didn't retract his claim that homosexuality is "immoral."
