Army Chief Won’t Rule Out Longer Deployments

The Army's new chief of staff, Gen. George Casey (of Iraq fame), has said he can't guarantee that deployments won't grow beyond the current 15 months. Casey was asked about the extensions by a frustrated Army wife who said her husband's deployments have more than doubled in length over the years.

Bush Pushing Out U.S. Generals in Iraq

According to ABC News, the president intends to replace Gen. Bob Casey, who currently oversees the Iraq war, with Lt. Gen. David Petraeus, and when Gen. John Abizaid retires in March, Bush will ask Adm. William Fallon to take over Central Command. Leave it to Bush to find someone from the Navy to oversee two ground wars.
