If you wish to vote for Bernie Sanders, Hillary Clinton or another Democrat in the primary race, you may have to register as a Democrat in your state.

Voteforbernie.org, which appears to be unaffiliated with the senator’s campaign, has produced an easy-to-use infographic that gives the rules and deadlines for registering in each state, a well as links for registration. Voters in New York, for example, have until Oct. 9 of this year. California has similar rules, with a May 23 deadline.

Voters in some states, such as Washington and Missouri, may vote for candidates regardless of party membership.
