Truthdig Editor-in-Chief Robert Scheer appeared on the radio program “This is Hell!” on Saturday to discuss his new book, “They Know Everything About You.”

“The Internet is on one hand the saving grace of American democracy — it could be a great tool for an informed public,” Scheer said during the nearly hourlong interview. “On the other hand, if it becomes an instrument of surveillance, and people engage in self-censorship — then it becomes the enemy of freedom. And the balance has moved in that direction.”
