Pat Robertson Excuses Petraeus Affair Because ‘He’s a Man’
The conservative televangelist isn't blaming ex-CIA Director David Petraeus for his affair with Paula Broadwell because "he's lonely" and she's a "good-looking lady throwing herself at him."
Never mind about the commandment that expressly forbids adultery–conservative televangelist Pat Robertson isn’t blaming ex-CIA Director David Petraeus for his affair with Paula Broadwell because, after all, “he’s a man” and she is “an extremely good-looking woman.”
“The man’s off in a foreign land and he’s lonely and here’s a good-looking lady throwing herself at him,” he said Monday on “The 700 Club” in a diatribe that seemingly absolved the pair of blame despite the fact that they’re both married (and not to each other).
After the story hit Gawker, a Christian Broadcasting Network spokesman released the following statement:
In his comments about General Petraeus, Dr. Robertson clearly stated that he does not condone sexual immorality, a fact that was left out by certain bloggers in an effort to discredit him.
But he didn’t exactly issue a condemnation of it, either.
