One of the key concepts that the Occupy Wall Street movement has brought to the fore by drawing attention to economic inequality in the U.S. is the notion that the “free market” doesn’t serve the needs of all citizens equally.

In fact, as one economist who supports OWS points out in this video clip, our government, like any other, is susceptible to being “captured by wealthy interests,” and the system has been skewed in favor of those interests — right down to how fundamental concepts about the economy are taught.
