Five senior journalists with The Sun newspaper were arrested early Saturday as part of an investigation into the alleged bribery of police officers and other public officials, bringing the number of arrests of current or former Sun employees to nine. A police officer, a Ministry of Defense employee and a member of the armed forces were also taken into custody in the case, for suspicion of corruption, misconduct and conspiracy. –ARK

[News International chief executive Tom] Mockridge confirmed that the five Sun journalists involved are deputy editor Geoff Webster, picture editor John Edwards, chief reporter John Kay, chief foreign correspondent Nick Parker and deputy news editor John Sturgis.
