Meanwhile, since having a breathing tube removed on Friday, Corzine has been able to enjoy a few of life’s simpler pleasures: watching hockey on television and eating mashed potatoes.
Corzine has been at Cooper University Hospital since an April 12 car crash on the Garden State Parkway. He was in the front passenger seat, his seat belt unbuckled, when the state trooper driving him at about 90 mph was clipped by another truck that was swerving to avoid a third vehicle.
Corzine broke his left thigh bone, 11 ribs, a collarbone and his breastbone and had some other, more minor injuries.

The New Jersey Senate on Thursday put a major damper on the pro-gay marriage camp's effort to score another victory for its cause in the Northeast, defeating a same-sex marriage bill by a vote of 14 yeas and 20 nays. Supporters had hoped that the bill would pass before Gov. Jon Corzine, who favors legalization of same-sex marriage, leaves office later this month.
The New Jersey Senate has reportedly scheduled Thursday for their vote on whether to legalize gay marriage. Timing will be key in determining the outcome of the issue in the Garden State. Gay marriage advocates have a sympathetic governor in office for only another two weeks.
