No doubt aiming to show voters that she’s in touch with the struggles and hopes of everyday Americans, Hillary Clinton unleashed a folksy first campaign spot Sunday to coincide with her announcement that she’s officially running for president in 2016.
Posted under the simple title “Getting Started,” the advertisement consists of a series of video vignettes about a diverse range of Clinton’s fellow citizens — student, retiree, engaged gay couple, young job-hunter, expectant parents, working mom, Hispanic business owner — and assumes a colloquial, familiar tone.

After we hear from these representatives from key demographics (some of whom are not likely to figure prominently in ads for GOP candidates) about their plans and dreams for this spring, the camera cuts to Clinton herself, who helpfully shares her own seasonal goal: “I’m running for president.”
