‘Democracy Now!’ Speaks to a Detained Immigrant Family
The Obama administration continues to detain immigrant mothers and children despite a judge’s order that doing so to deter mass migration is illegal. “Democracy Now!” speaks with a mother and son who were detained in Texas, and with the former director of the University of Texas law school’s immigration clinic, Barbara Hines.
Hines’ affidavit on a lawsuit challenging the detention of women and children as a method of deterring mass migration was cited by a federal judge in his order to halt the practice.
