Debbie Wasserman Schultz faced an angry crowd of Florida delegates Monday morning in her first public appearance since announcing her resignation. Several days ago, thousands of leaked Democratic National Committee emails revealed how Wasserman Schultz and others tried to hinder the Bernie Sanders campaign throughout the primary process. On Sunday, Wasserman Schultz announced her resignation as chairwoman of the committee. She is set to officially leave her position at the end of the Democratic National Convention, taking place in Philadelphia this week.

It seems that many delegates are not satisfied merely with her departure from the committee and want to make their displeasure known. On Monday morning, Wasserman Schultz spoke to a large room of Florida delegates and was repeatedly booed and interrupted while attempting to speak. Nick Gass and Daniel Strauss of Politico write:

“So I can see there’s a little bit of interest in my being here, and I appreciate that interest,” Wasserman Schultz said amid the cacophony, which began as soon as the Florida Democrat started speaking. …

When Wasserman Schultz entered the room, the crowd hushed momentarily, and then her supporters began cheering. As she began talking, though, audience members wearing Bernie Sanders shirts started shouting and yelling, waving signs that said “Thanks for the ‘Help’ Debbie” and signs that simply read “e-mails.”

Ben Kamisar of The Hill provides additional details, noting that delegates repeatedly shouted ‘Shame!’ as Wasserman Schultz tried to speak.
