Explaining that women live in a world of burgers (i.e., men), Hughes uses cheese pizza and deluxe pizza to stand in for white women and women of color as she makes an important, simple point: “As great as it is to uplift cheese pizza, the world could use a lot more flavor.”
In other words, feminism needs to be inclusive if it’s to have a significant impact. Now wouldn’t it be great if everyone used pizza to explain complex concepts?
