A number of Arab foreign ministers have appointed Egypt and Jordan to meet with Israel over a peace proposal that would normalize relations between the Jewish state and the Arab world in exchange for a long list of concessions, some very unlikely to be met.

Though the two “contact” nations already have ties with Israel, other states would be willing to join in, should Israel take immediate steps.

Arab foreign ministers have authorised a contact group to talk directly with Israel about their peace initiative.

The group consists of Jordan and Egypt, although officials say it is possible other states which have no diplomatic ties with Israel could join in future.
