Commenting on several points of conflict with Canada and the U.S., including an inability to resolve the ouster of the president of Honduras and the creation of new U.S. military bases in Panama, Morales urged a new OAS free of “North American imperialism.”

Una nueva Organización de Estados Americanos (OEA), “sin el norte, sin el imperio, sin Estados Unidos ni Canadá”, se gestará en la reunión de presidentes del Grupo de Río, a realizarse en Cancún, México, del 21 al 23 de febrero, dijo hoy el presidente boliviano, Evo Morales.
En conferencia de prensa, señaló que se está gestando un nuevo movimiento político de jefes de Estado y que la creación de una nueva institución latinoamericana, sin el norte, es una “excelente propuesta”; sería “un instrumento para que Latinoamérica se libere del imperialismo norteamericano.
“Actualmente, las políticas del imperio no están orientadas a golpes de Estado, sino a crear conflictos internos, cercos a los gobiernos revolucionarios, con proyectos del capitalismo… pero también del militarismo.
