After Mitt Romney took a beating in South Carolina and his Iowa victory was annulled, his candidacy was beginning to look precarious. But a big win in Florida on Tuesday night put Romney back on course, and now he’s speaking as though the race is nearly over.

“A competitive primary does not divide us, it unites us and we will win,” said Romney in his victory speech.

Romney is polling ahead in Nevada, which holds its caucuses Saturday, and in Maine, which begins holding caucuses this weekend and continues until the 11th.

Colorado, Minnesota and Missouri vote next Tuesday, Feb. 7, although Missouri’s primary will not count toward the nomination. — PZS
