Labor Intensive:

President Obama waded into the Michigan “right to work” labor battle Monday, throwing his support behind the unions. “I’ve just got to say this — what we shouldn’t be doing is trying to take away your rights to bargain for better wages and working conditions,” he said during a speech at the Daimler Detroit Diesel plant. “We shouldn’t be doing that. The so-called right-to-work laws — they don’t have to do with economics, they have everything to do with politics. What they’re really talking about is giving you the right to work for less money.” (Read more)

Pot Luck: Call it an early Christmas gift for marijuana users. Less than a week after it became legal to smoke weed in Washington, Colorado became the second state to allow the recreational usage of the drug. Gov. John Hickenlooper signed the executive order legalizing the substance Monday, nearly a month ahead of time. Voters in Colorado and Washington passed ballot measures legalizing marijuana for recreational use last month. (Read more)

Keep Off the Grass: Speaking of marijuana legalization, a new Gallup poll shows that for the first time ever, a majority of Americans want the federal government to let states decide their own pot policies. The survey revealed that 64 percent of respondents do not want the feds interfering in Washington’s and Colorado’s efforts to regulate the substance, now that it’s legal in those places. (Read more)

Lost Cause: Republican Allen West doesn’t need an investigation to figure out what wrong with his unsuccessful congressional campaign. He is absolutely, positively certain that he was defeated by Patrick Murphy because the Democratic candidate cheated. The sore loser told conservative radio show host Mark Levin: “I’m not going away just because of a congressional race where he seems to have to cheat to beat me.” Levin, who having called West “a national treasure” can be classified as delusional like his guest, agreed with West, saying, “[Murphy] sure as hell did. It’s disgusting.” What exactly the victor allegedly did to cheat, however, is unclear. (Read more)
