Footage taken from a drone shows the eerie ruins of the abandoned Ukrainian city of Pripyat, the site of the 1986 Chernobyl nuclear disaster.

The Independent reports:

Pripyat once boasted 49,000 residents 25 shops and 10 gymnasiums but was completely abandoned after the Chernobyl Nuclear Power Plant suffered an explosion in 1986, and the drone footage captured by British photographer Danny Cooke gives a harrowing insight into how it was left.

[…] Devon-based documentary maker Cooke, was able to film the footage titled Postcards from Pripyat, Chernobyl while filming a 60 Minutes for American news programme CBS.

Cooke would use his spare time to go out and fly his DJI Phantom 2 drone and camera to capture aerial shots of the empty city.
