Syrian General Killed by Gunmen in Damascus

A Syrian military general and hospital director was killed in an attack by three gunmen in a residential street in Damascus on Saturday in an assassination that marks a move away from the anti-government uprising’s nonviolent roots. The killing came ahead of a meeting of Arab League members in Cairo to consider a new response to the violence in Syria.

Coordinated Attacks Kill at Least 100 in Mumbai

India’s busiest city came under fire Thursday morning (local time) as gunmen attacked at least seven targets, including two luxury hotels, a train station and a hospital. The attacks killed at least 100 people and injured hundreds more. Officials said the death toll included the head of Mumbai’s counterterrorism unit.

Baghdad Gunmen Kidnap 25 People

The gunmen, wearing Iraqi security force uniforms, snatched the group from an office in central Baghdad that witnesses said housed the Iraqi-American Chamber of Commerce and Industry, in addition to a business.
