Editor’s note: The following video is a clip from a 19-part series filmed at a Truthdig and KPFK co-sponsored event in Los Angeles recently. The discussion features Oliver Stone, the Academy Award-winning screenwriter and director, and Robert Scheer, Truthdig’s editor in chief. The two talk about “The Putin Interviews,” a new Showtime series by Stone, as well as the published transcript, for which Scheer wrote the foreword. We are publishing one video per day. This is the 11th installment.

Truthdig Editor in Chief Robert Scheer delves into the 2016 presidential election, arguing that the leaked transcripts of Hillary Clinton’s speeches to Goldman Sachs were a key part of her campaign’s failure.

“You would think you’d have enough sense that if you were going to go speak at Goldman Sachs, you might tell them something about changing their actions,” Scheer says. “You might make a criticism. But if you read those speeches, what is so damning is that she doesn’t criticize them.”

On Saturday, watch the next clip in the series, in which Scheer and director Oliver Stone answer an audience question about Putin’s dealing with Europe and the possibility of nuclear conflict.
