John Oliver on Trump’s Pardon of Joe Arpaio (Video)
The "Last Week Tonight" host examines the recently pardoned sheriff and Donald Trump's decision to let him off.
In a segment on his HBO show “Last Week Tonight” on Sunday, John Oliver looks into who the recently pardoned Joe Arpaio is and what Donald Trump’s decision to let the sheriff off says about the president.
“I do not doubt that Trump thinks that everything Joe Arpaio did was or should be part of a law enforcement officer’s job, and that is the real problem here,” says Oliver in his first episode since the show’s recent hiatus. “That is why this pardon is a slap in the face to Latinos that Arpaio and his department unconstitutionally targeted, and that is why it’s a slap in the face to the very law of rule itself.”
