“Italy is in turmoil and is dabbling with fascism and that should worry everyone,” “Last Week Tonight” host John Oliver says in his segment on the European country’s election. “The last time they did that, they wound up with Mussolini. The, to put it nicely, Turner to Hitler’s Hooch.”

After profiling some of the people running in or influencing Italy’s prime ministerial election, including “kingmaker” and former Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi, Oliver decides to add a “random jackass” to the mix: himself.

Explaining that there are no explicit rules that would exclude him from the political contest, Oliver addresses the Italian public, concluding, “Incredibly, I am far from your worst option.”
