As though there weren’t already enough paranoid and unfounded warnings coming from American officials, the U.S. Embassy in Reykjavik sent out a cautionary message Thursday regarding Chelsea (formerly Bradley) Manning supporters. The emergency notice advised Americans to be wary of traveling to Iceland, or worse, walking by the embassy downtown, for fear of the protesters.

Bradley Manning was sentenced Wednesday to 35 years in prison with the chance of parole in his court-martial at Fort Meade, Md. As one Twitter user posted, "That's 35 years more than the people who started the Iraq War."

After the announcement Friday that charges had been filed against NSA leaker Edward Snowden under the Espionage Act, the Guardian columnist told CNN's Anderson Cooper that the prosecution solidified the Obama administration's "absolutely atrocious record" toward whistle-blowers.
