With attacks pouring in from both the left and the right, won't someone at least pretend to take Republican National Committee Chairman Michael Steele's side?
Republican Party grandees were all set to use Michael Steele in the most cynical way. Now it's becoming clear that Steele has been using the users all along.
Michael Steele recently irritated his party by taking a tolerant view of abortion, but the RNC chairman is here to let everyone know that there's plenty of crazy where that came from. While guest-hosting a talk show, Steele compared President Obama to Richard Nixon and argued that, science be damned, the Earth isn't getting warmer -- it's getting colder.
Once, conservatives liked to say that "ideas matter." Although many of their theories later proved flimsy, they at least attempted to address real problems with fresh thinking. But ideas no longer matter -- and in fact they're dangerous, according to the maximum leader of the right.
The American commander in charge of Baghdad's Camp Cropper, which holds about 3,300 detainees, has been arrested by U.S. forces for a range of alleged offenses. Lt. Col.
