According to Condoleezza Rice, President Bush authorized the recent seizure of Iranian operatives in Iraq. U.S. forces seized at least five Iranian officials from Iran's consulate in Irbil, Iraqi Kurdistan, prompting a confrontation with Kurdish forces.
