Moore Takes ‘Sicko’ to Sacramento

Director Michael Moore will use his new documentary "Sicko" as an advocacy tool for healthcare reform on June 12, when he will testify before the California State Legislature in Sacramento about his film -- a scathing critique of the U.S. healthcare system. Moore will also join nurses' and doctors' activist groups, as well as state Sen. Sheila Kuehl, for a rally at the state Capitol.

L.A. Police Chief Sides With Marchers

As many as 60 LAPD officers have been pulled from the streets, following a violent clash with protesters on May 1. Chief William Bratton has called some of the actions of the officers, who attempted to break up an apparently peaceful and lawful rally by firing 148 rubber bullets, "indefensible."

Thousands Demand New Government in Israel

Tens of thousands of Israelis gathered in Tel Aviv on Thursday, calling for a new government. The protest was organized around the handling of the Lebanon war. A recent investigation blamed Prime Minister Ehud Olmert for a "serious failure in exercising judgment, responsibility and prudence."
