Obama’s Liberal Roots

Apr 1, 2008
Documents obtained by The Politico suggest that Barack Obama has moderated his positions on several issues since his early political life, a charge the candidate denies. He has also tried to distance himself from the label of "most liberal senator." Perhaps the former community organizer doth protest too much?

Mar 3, 2008
Hillary Clinton made a surprise appearance on "Saturday Night Live" over the weekend, where she shared a laugh with her own impersonator. It's part of a trend that is well captured by a recent Politico article, which notes that politicians are increasingly cultivating their celebrity status.

Clinton’s Soft Money Boost

Feb 21, 2008
Hillary Clinton has had difficulty keeping pace with Barack Obama's fundraising, which could explain the launch of a new pro-Clinton 527 group called "American Leadership Project" that already has a commercial it plans to run in Ohio. Conservative Media’s Fickle Affections

Feb 16, 2008
It wasn't so long ago that Matt Drudge and Rupert Murdoch's minions cooed over Hillary Clinton's centrism, but in the end the self-styled titans of right-wing media couldn't resist bashing her, much to their readers' delight. Giuliani’s Hanky-Panky: On the Public Tab?

Nov 29, 2007
During the early days of his romance with his girlfriend (now wife) Judith, then New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani made trips to the Hamptons, where she lived, and billed "obscure city agencies" for costs his NYPD security detail incurred while accompanying him, according to The Politico.

A Vote for an iPod: A Fair Exchange?

Nov 15, 2007
Oh dear -- file this one under "further evidence our democracy's in deep trouble": The Politico reports that, according to a recent poll of over 3,000 NYU undergraduates conducted by an on-campus journalism class, two-thirds said they would give up their right to vote in the next presidential election in exchange for a year's tuition at their school, while 20 percent said they'd swap it for an iPod touch.
