Israel’s Gaza Inquiry Finds Israel Innocent

Mar 31, 2009
The Israeli military has exonerated itself after investigating the recent comments of soldiers who alleged abuses in Gaza. The military said in a statement that the accounts, which described the casual shooting of women and children, were "based on hearsay and not supported by facts." Nine Israeli human rights groups have called for an independent investigation.

If Only the World Had Listened

Tom Hurndall was one of a bunch of "human shields" who turned up in Baghdad just before the Anglo-American invasion in 2003, the kind of folk we professional reporters make fun of. You Take the High, Palestinians Take the Low

Mar 28, 2008
An interim decision by the Israeli Supreme Court on Wednesday marked the beginning of what could become a two-tiered road system in the West Bank. With two separate legal systems for Palestinians and Israelis already in operation, critics fear segregated roads would lead toward further institutionalization of apartheid in the occupied territories.

Scores Killed in Israeli Attacks on Gaza

Mar 2, 2008
Attacks by Israeli forces killed more than 70 Palestinians on Saturday as fighting intensified in northern Gaza, prompting Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas to call the incursion "more than a holocaust." Two Israeli soldiers were killed and seven were wounded, the Israeli military reported. Updated.

Israel’s Toy Soldiers

If you are a young Muslim American and head off to the Middle East for a spell in a fundamentalist "madrassa," or religious school, Homeland Security will probably greet you at the airport when you return. But if you are an American Jew and you join hundreds of teenagers from Europe and Mexico for an eight-week training course run by the Israel Defense Forces, you can post your picture wearing an Israeli army uniform and holding an automatic weapon on MySpace.
