Rather than trying to conciliate the Republicans, Obama ought to speak out against them. The truth is that Boehner, House Majority Leader Eric Cantor and Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell don’t want to work with him. The wounded are especially dangerous fighters. President Obama now occupies the high ground in the debt ceiling debate, having called the Republicans' bluff on the debt.
