Washington Peace March Nears

United for Peace & Justice -- a coalition of more than 1,300 activist groups with the support of MoveOn.org and other progressive organizations -- is planning a march on Washington set for Jan. 27. Organizers hope the demonstration will pressure Congress to begin the withdrawal of troops from Iraq and end the war.

Senate Panel Passes Immigration Bill

The bill, which requires approval by the full Senate, clears the way for 11 million illegal aliens to seek U.S. citizenship, and will allow some 1.5 million workers to seek temporary jobs legally. This is a big win for the hundreds of thousands of people who joined protest marches this past weekend.
