The Sunrise Movement Hits Capitol Hill

Varshini Prakash, co-founder and executive director of the Sunrise Movement, joins the crowd of activists converging at Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell’s office on Monday.

Destine Grigsby, 17, who made the trip from Louisville, Kentucky, described her group’s reasons for showing up at McConnell’s office in her own words. “We came [to D.C.] to demand that he look us in the eyes and admit to us that the 1.9 million dollars he gets from fossil fuel CEO’s are more important than our future,” she said.
